Why do men think it’s weird for women to buy too many handbags?

Particularly my parents, well, mostly my dad. I am 21 and I have been spending money on handbags.I mean, I am not spending like $100s...most of the ones I own are from discount stores that sell overstock items so I basically got my Guess and Kathy Van Zeeland bags for $40, $30 and $22....three are even only $15, 16 and 10-- not so much.....overall, I have 8 new bags I have NOT yet used and he thinks it's weird that I have 'too' much I still have not used. But I will use them from time to time anyway (on special occasions)....WHY???
